Weekly Bible Study - Noon at El Conquistador Restaurant

Christian believers and seekers are welcome and invited to attend the weekly community Bible study group each Thursday at noon in the private dining room of El Conquistador restaurant in Hillsboro.  

We look forward to a new study from Pastor Dane Ortlund, Gentle and Lowly.
 
Our Bible study this year will continue to be led by Brother Rick Pinner, but the format this year is focused on member participation and sharing in meaning of the lesson in our personal lives.
 
Thanks for all who attended the Summer Social last Thursday, and it was encouraging to see new faces in the fellowship circle.
Maddie Googe shared her personal experience with the study book, Gentle and Lowly, and will be assisting Rick in making the discussion time relevant and meaningful.
 
For this new format to be effective, it will be important for each of us to read the chapter in advance and give prayerful thought to impact and application….and be prepared to share openly with the group. Rick will not force the issue or make anyone uncomfortable, but this approach will enable us to grow and learn from each other in the study.
 
The chapters are fairly brief, and this study book will carry us into February.  A calendar schedule for the study is attached.
 
Books will be available on Thursday, and thanks to Rick and Aquilla First Baptist Church donation, the cost for a book is only $6.
 
Pray for God’s blessing in this new study season….and come and bring a friend.
 
QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION
 

1. What role does the heart play in a person’s life?  What are the implications of this for what Jesus says about His own heart?
2. What difference does it make in your everyday life that “no one in human history has ever been more approachable than Jesus Christ” ?
3. According to Thomas Goodwin, what misconception is Jesus correcting when he describes Himself as “gentle and lowly”? How do you find yourself falling prey to that misconception in your own thinking?
